Marar and Asher Win National Special Elections

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. March 04, 2024– Speaker Esmond B. Moses has received the official declaration that Johnson Asher and Julio Marar are the winning candidates in the Special National Elections to fill the vacant seats in the 23rd Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia.

 

On February 29, 2024, Special National Elections were held for the two-year representatives of Kosrae State’s Congressional Election District One and Chuuk State’s Congressional District One. Four days later, the National Election Director certified the official election results and noted the successful candidates as:

1. Johnson A. Asher with 1316 votes for Kosrae State – ED1; and

2. Julio M. Marar with 1243 votes for Chuuk State – ED1.

 

The successful candidates will fill the seats vacated due to the untimely passing of the former occupants, the late Paliknoa K. Welly and the late Florencio Singkoro Harper. Asher and Marar are now awaiting to be sworn in as members of the Nation’s Twenty Third Congress.
