22nd Congress convenes for Virtual 1st Special Session

 

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. July 16, 2021. On July 7, 2021, in a letter to Speaker Wesley W. Simina, President David W. Panuelo requests the 22nd Congress to convene for the 1st Special Session, in accordance to Article IX Section 16 of the FSM Constitution,

 

The 1st Special Session will convene on Monday, July 19, 2021 for the duration of 10 days following the usual times of 10.a.m. Chuuk, Yap and Guam; and 11a.m. Pohnpei and Kosrae time.

 

The purpose of this special session is to address certain issues of importance to the nation on the following topics: (1) amendments or update to the Emergency Declaration; (2) urgent bills that need action by Congress; and (3) nominations to key positions of the National Government.

 

Based on the restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic that the nation is currently situated in, the session will be held remotely. In respecting the nation’s current health measures, social distancing will be adhered to and regretfully the Congress cannot invite guests to the sessions. However, sessions will be Live and the public and all interested parties are welcome to witness the sessions by accessing our website: cfsm.gov.fm.
