22nd Congress passes Supplemental Budget for 1st Special Session

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. August 4, 2021– The 10-day First Special Session of the 22nd Congress adjourned Wednesday - July 28, 2021, with the passage of the following congressional acts for the ongoing development of the nation.

Congressional Act CA 22-30 is to appropriate $556,536 from the General Fund of the Federated States of Micronesia for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021 to provide supplemental funding for the operations of the Executive Branch; the Legislative Branch; Agencies, Boards, Authorities & Commissions; Grants, Subsidies and Contributions; Capital and Human Resources Development, and for other purposes.

CA 22-29 is an act to amend Section 707 Title 6 of the Code of the Federated States of Micronesia to clarify that state funds and assets in the custody or control of a department or entity of the National Government shall under no circumstance be subject to writ of garnishment, and for other purposes.

CA 22-25 is a congressional act, to further amend Section 503 Title 55 of the Code of the FSM to increase the annual salary of the National Public Auditor, and for other purposes.

The following Acts from the 1st Special Session are for public projects and social programs for the people in the four states of the Nation:

Congress passed CA 22-23, CA 22-32, CA 22-33 & CA 22-34, and changed the use of certain funds previously appropriated for public projects and social programs for the people of the state of Kosrae; while CA 22-27 was for the same intent directed to the state of Yap. Specific to Chuuk State, for previous public projects and social programs for the people of the state, the Congress passed CA 22-24, CA 22-26 & CA 22-28.

CA 22-31 is to appropriate the sum of $2,800,000 from the General Fund of the FSM for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021 for the purpose of funding public projects and social programs for the people of Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk & Yap states, and for other purposes.
