Congress further extends President's Public Health Emergency Declaration to May

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. On March 31, 2021, Congress adopted congressional resolution CR21-252. The resolutiion extends the declaration by an additional 60 days from March 31, 2021 to May 31, 2021. The Declaration remains the same as before. The decision was made after a lengthy deliberation based on the preparedness level of the individual states to receive stranded citizens and the shortfall of the required vaccination of 70% of the Nation's population to achieve herd immunity, as recommended by the United States Department of Health and Social Services, Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
